How to get it to say you're on mobile on facebook?

I just got an ipod touch 5g and I was wondering why it doesnt say im on mobile. I have messenger and the facebook app, but when I use the facebook app it says im online and it doesnt have the phone icon... same with messenger. I dont know why it bothers me that it has the green button.. it just... does lol. thanks~~

The mobile icon will appear in chat when you have the app running on your phone in the background, you will appear online when you have the app open and are using it. If you do not go onto facebook using your phone for a while, but still have the app open in the background (i.e. on another app or sleep) you will appear as 'Mobile' and will be notified when someone sends you a message. When you are active in chat, you will appear 'Online'.
