How do you build of your gang in mafia wars?

there are different ways to build up your mafia.
either join add me groups which is plenty in facebook, or my favorite way.
add certain people who had lots of member, and ask her/him to put your link on their wall.
here's a reference, she had at least 3000 member:

ask her to promote you to her mafia member.
