Is there much use for social networking on mobile phones?

I am thinking of buying a blackberry, however I have never owned a phone with internet and app capabilities. I use my phone to call or text people. I do use social media and other things but I am on my computer often enough. Are the extra features of a blackberry worth it?
No problem, but I wonder about the cost.

it all depends on the person situation some ppl get the bb cuz they just need it and some get it for its use like to check mails on the run..texting, worldphone and social networking too...
but if u like move around alot and not at home much...so u can get the updates of ur emails and facebook on the go..but with the smartphone it really works out ur sittin in the subway w8ing for train just go to youtube and listen to some new videos or can check ur updates on facebook....
its no harm getting..one....
