I am having problems with pop ups, but why?
I have recently found that pop up windows are appearing when i click on links on various websites. These links are not pop up links. The pop ups are adverts selling: health pills, porn, social sites, casinos and free screen savers. I have the problem in Internet Explorer and Firefox both of which are the latest versions and both have the pop up blocker enabled. I have done a virus and spyware scan but found nothing. What is happening? Please Help.

Add firefox noscripts:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722

Then tell us what antispyware programs you used, because I believe you have some spyware.

Use one or both of the following, one at a time.

SpyBot Search And Destroy http://www.safer-networking.org/en/downl…
AdAware Free http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php

Reboot in safe mode with networking.
Turn off System Restore to prevent re-infection from infected restore points.

To get into Safe Mode with Networking: <--Extremely Important!
1. Turn off system restore
2. Log out and reboot your machine.
3. When the machine starts the reboot sequence, press the F8 key repeatedly.
4. Select Safe Mode with Networking from the resulting menu.
