How do you know if someone sent you a friend request on facebook?

I just made a facebook and on the button with the people on it on the upper left there is a list of people I know. Some people have a blue button that says add friend and others have a white button that says +1 add friend.

Does the blue button mean they sent me a friend request?

You can find friend requests in the left corner of your facebook page. It looks sort of like two heads and is blue. If there is a number by it it means those people sent you a friend request.
Add friend is in the right corner. You click on it if you want to add someone.

Facebook allows its users to send requests for friendship, enabling you to read and comment on others' posts. When you send a request to become friends with someone, that person has the option to accept or deny the request. If your friend request was denied, you will not receive notification, but you can check on the status from the recipient's profile page.
