Deactivate facebook question?

Someone told me they deactivated their Facebook. I went to their cousins Facebook which is private and it still says that we have one mutual friend. I can't see the friend as their cousins Facebook is private but does their facebook still linger? A friend told me that it will still say I have a mutual friend even though its been deactivated. I don't have any other mutual friends with the cousin.

Yes, even though it is deactivated, it still holds a place marker. Had it been deleted, that place marker would last for 14 days, as the page takes 14 days to delete in order to give the user the opportunity to reactivate the page is they so consider.
