How Do I Talk To My Friends On Twitter?

I Have Just Joined The Infamous Twitter. I heard it was awesome, and one of my friends (Who recently moved away) has one. We decided to talk via Twitter, so that we don't lose contact with each other.

Trouble is...I don't know how to send her a direct message. Can anyone help?

When I go to send A Direct message, there isn't anyone there to send it to.

You can send a Twitter message directly to another Twitter user with the Direct command. Enter d username message

If you enter a Tweet with @username at the beginning of it, your message is understood as being intended for that particular person, although others will be able to see it. Be sure the person who you want to see your message is following you, or they won't get it.

the side bar there will be a direct message function click on that and then the drop down box will allow you to send her a direct message.

you could also just tweet her with an @tweet she will definitely see that as will everyone else. make sure she has added you as well. You can actually gain a lot of followers relatively quickly and have conversations with lots of people.
