Should I get back into Warhammer 40k?

Should I get back into Warhammer 40k?
Sorry you gotta read this whole thing because its a tricky problem.

I used to play Warhammer 40k, because I liked the gaming side and the strategy and tactics and army lists. But I thought I hung out with the wrong people (the kind who have acne, BO and play dungeons and dragons) (no offence, this is a stereotype but in fairness try walking into a full games workshop on a Saturday afternoon, there will generally not be a hot girlfriend or dry armpit in sight). On top of this it used up all my money, every time I had some spare money I had to buy this new box of guardsmen or a tank. Looking back it was like a cult that took my time and money.

So I was relieved when I got temporally banned over a misunderstanding. I took up guitar, I now have a pretty hot girlfriend and I try to gig when I can be motivated to write a few songs, but my brother who still plays warhammer never has a nice thing to say about my guitar playing or singing (as he plays star trek online with all the kind of people I wanted to distance myself from, (no girlfriends, limited social skills and BO)) but its still hard to sing and get songs done when he's in the next room on his computer and goes on abut how bad it is.

Anyway I just got £300 to spend at Christmas and I feel like i could get back into warhammer 40k just because its a game I like and it can be fun to have a huge, really cool army that i can use strategy and tactics to win with. I still have about 3000pts of orks left in a whole full case. But if I got back into the game I would probably spend all the money on a new Dark Eldar army to play with. (Because that's how it works, spend all your money because you can have the best possible army). Or I could try to carry on and live my life (not to mention I'm in the middle of A-levels, which I have a real chance of getting low grades).

So what do I do, give in and play warhammer because its what I've done and been accepted at, or try to be social and be a musician because part of me wants to?

(p.s. try not to say 'concentrate on A-levels' because I hear that enough from my parents)

My advice, sell the orcs, get your A-levels (That's like a college degree, right? The USA doesn't use the letter-level system) and use a small percentage of that money to buy some self contained strategy board games.

You can have that tabletop strategy goodness without the crippling price tag, plus you can play with more casually geeky, socially well adapted people.

A self contained game will not drain the wallet when a new edition is released, expansions are totally optional and you don't have to interact with the sort of person who would spend $600 on tiny metal space elves.

Hell, buy Dungeons and Dragons, or a similar tabletop RPG. Way cheaper (you can game for years with $50 worth of RPG supplies) than Warhammer and, by it's design, requires a level of social graces to play.

Find the happy medium, get the stuff you like from WH40K and leave all the bad stuff behind.

Not so much as a tricky problem as you think, just do what you want to do. Want to play War hammer? Go right ahead. Want to play guitar? Sure why not. Want to have a promising career? Go ahead and do your "a-levels" if that's what you want. You seem like a pretty shallow guy, so just do whatever you feel like.
