How many hours of sleep does a 16 year old guy need each night?
I just turned 16... I love staying up late at night just chilling of Facebook or watching movies but in the week I have to get up around 5:50am for school and sometimes even at 5:00am for erly morning swimming practice at school. I was just wondering if there is a spcific amount of time that someone will recomend to me that will help me be rested out in the morning and not tierd. Thanx

Between 7-9 hours recommended each night. Using technology like phones or iPads late at night will make it more difficult for your brain to register that it's time to sleep, so using Facebook at night isn't good (nor is watching tv too much). I would recommend reading right before bed to aid in sleeping and getting a restful night.

A doctor would recommend 8-10 hours of sleep a night. Something about the hormones in teenagers. They need more sleep!

What time do you go to bed?
The average is around 8 hours but I usually only sleep around 6 hours a night. Listen to your body, if you are tired go to bed - if you wake up tired go to bed earlier!

Teens need a little more than adults - usually around 9 hours a night, but something in the 8-10 range will make you feel adequately rested. Since you are still learning a lot (lots of brain energy) and also still growing, your body needs extra rest compared to an adult. Unfortunately your hormones and brain development at the moment make it hard to go to bed early. If you are getting up early though, you will want to go to sleep early enough that you get enough rest. All your good growth occurs during sleep.

Believe it or not, but teenagers actually need the same amount of sleep as a 7 year old! Because you're growing and your body and brain are going through many changes, you need at least 8 hours of sleep a night.
10 hours seems to be a good amount, so maybe stick to this number.
