Where does someone get a small loan from?

I am just starting a job and need a loan for $1000. Does anyone know where I can get that kind of a loan? My credit is less than perfect (although just from carrying high balances on my credit cards and not from defaults) and I am a college student so I DO NOT qualify for loans from a professional bank. I can't get a “Pay Day” loan, the kind we so frequently get spam for, since I am just starting my job.

I posted an ad on Craigslist asking for a loan and almost every response I got was from people trying to scam me; many of these people seemed to be in other countries! I posted a second ad, and again, mostly junk responses. One real response I got was from a guy who referred me to some site that was essentially a social network site, but for loans. Alas, even they go by your credit score. This is BS, I cant believe there is no where to turn in a situation like this. I don't own anything of value that I can sell; even my car is pretty much worthless. What can I do?

I won't scam you. All you need to do is a few online searches looking for a lender that meets your needs. I have an international loan and my dollar is higher then the lenders so I am in a win win situation. Do a few searches. Make your own decision then.
