its a social networking site like facebook its relativly safe currently! But still becarefull and remember! DONT SHARE ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION USED TO IDENTIFY YOU! lol alot of big companys use it so i guess its 99% likly to be safe!

Twitter is a micro-blogging application designed with mobile users in mind. The 140 character limit is so that you can send the "tweets" over a mobile network, including the username, which is limited to 19 characters (plus the @ sign) thus giving you 160 characters, which is the limitation on most networks for SMS messages.

Safety is a matter of personal discretion when it comes to networking in any form. I follow a general rule of "don't post anything on twitter that I wouldn't want my mom to see"

It's really pretty safe right now. It's much safer than facebook and myspace, since theree's less opportunites and places to share personal info.
