It's not true. They would lose more money than they would earn. Most of their money comes from advertisements, and it's a lot of money. They aren't struggling at all, and charging people to use their site would make most to stop using it altogether.

As far as I know it is true because I heard it on the news last night. I don't know if it is true or not but if it happens, there is no way people will still use it as Myspace is free.

The amount varies. The Snopes page answers to a $4.99 Facebook fee email rumor, but other messages carry taglines specifying $14.99 per month. Questions raised ask whether - if Facebook were to charge a monthly fee - users would continue with the service.

No, it is not true. The group that has been spreading the rumor is trying to get people to join it's anti-fee group.
Snopes.com reports that there is a computer hijack/virus associated with at least one of these groups and their page. Be careful if you have joined one of these anti-fee groups as to what you click on on their page.. you may end up with a nasty virus. Even the Business Week articles on the subject clearly indicated that it is NOT in FB's plans. I'm sure that those who started the rumor have driven a huge amount of traffic to their web site and FB pages (with links) that are of dubious nature... |
