Laptop Dell Inspiron N4010 Audio not working properly desipte of running of audio driver. Why ?
For last few days its audio giving problem. internet service provider is same at residence and office. i have downloaded audio driver from dell's official site and run it. in office intially on running this driver audio used to work and then stopped totally. At my residence it still works but after running audio driver 3-4 times. same step i repeat in my office also but now it never works. it is something funny. i have talked to number of persons and all say that it has nothing to do with internet. i also agree but none is able to provide reason as to why it works at residence and what is the remedy. i need help.
Windows 7 is installed.

It might not be your driver, but if it is here is what you have to do:

1. make sure your using the correct one, if you have a computer that was made for windows vista and you upgraded it to windows 7 (for example) the windows 7 driver might not work correctly, the upgrade is software, but the hardware was not created for windows 7 it was made for vista.

2. after you are SURE it's the right driver make sure to uninstall the old one before you install the new one.

3. after all that look in your device manager and make sure everything is working correctly that is audio related.

Hello ashooke,
My name is Krishna and I work for the Social Media and Community Team at Dell. Try running the Dell Diagnostics Audio Tests. If it fails the speaker tests then it is the hardware, but if it passes, it is most likely a driver issue. You can follow the instructions from http://dell.to/g8qNbJ

Also, If you want to email me your service tag and current shipping address, I will have a look at your warranty to see what options we have. You can reach me at Krishna_KRN@Dell.com

Regards,
