should i be a vet tech?
Hello, im 20 years old and trying to discover what my career path should be. I currently work in Guest Services/Hospitality and have a phlebotomy certification as well. I would love to be a vet tech. because i love animals and helping animals/ and people. I wanted to get options of people that are currently or have been a vet tech. I hear they don't make much but that's not really my concern as i would rather have a job that i love doing. Any Tech opinions please?

google 'pay scales' in Vet Tech in your areas.

as for pay decide what u are willing to give up
to live at that pay scale.

housing may be out of your reach.
with taxes and other expenses going
up in USA 2013 , u better figure that
out b4 moving to new field.

living like a starving student for decades isn't
fun.

A career in veterinary technology can be very rewarding. Just ask some of them! We would recommend connecting with the American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB) through social media and engaging with some of our followers. You can find our social media links at the bottom of our homepage. Many of our followers are vet techs and vet tech students. Among other things, we own and administer the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE). Also, it would be wise to check out the American Veterinary Medical Association's (AVMA) website for more information about the vet tech profession and for a list of accredited programs.

1. AAVSB Homepage: https://www.aavsb.org/

2. AAVSB VTNE Info: https://www.aavsb.org/VTNE/

3. AVMA Vet Tech Info: https://www.avma.org/ProfessionalDevelop...fault.aspx

Hope this gets your started. Good luck!
