Is there anything I can do with the idea then? I asked a question before about social networking and I've tried to understand the language of building it. But just seems to complicated. If anyone knows a specific book or site that is explains it well, but easy to understand. Finding a place to host it isn't the problem, building it is. I can't let go of the idea. I couldn't even sleep last night because I kept thinking about. Any hope or help? Perhaps both?

You'll need to learn computer programming. Then you'll need to learn a few programming languages. Then you'll need to learn HTML (the content of the site) and CSS (the look of the site). If you really want to learn, start with http://www-old.oberon.ethz.ch/WirthPubl/AD.pdf - but don't expect to be working on the site by August. It will take you months to learn programming, a few more months each to learn Javascript, PHP and SQL (at least months - it can take years before you become a good programmer) and at least a month or two before you start creating good sites. That completely neglects the need for graphic design.

Expecting to be able to convert a "really good idea" into a working site in a month or two is like expecting to become a neurosurgeon in a month or two. It takes years of work for someone to learn enough, and get enough experience, to actually create some of those "simple" sites you see.

Your best bet - if you can add something to the project more than the initial idea (there are millions of "really great ideas" for sites out there) is to team up with someone who has the knowledge and experience to build the site.

A social networking site, being immensely interactive is a very complicated project which cannot be carried out by one person, no matter how qualified in IT he/she is. Also, being so heavily interactive, the site requires extensive ongoing maintenance which requires the service of professionals.
This is the fifith question this week about wanting to build a social networking site. For an average person, it must remain simply a dream

I can help make your dream come true.
But those two other answers have a valid point.
"It requires a number of personnels to build and maintain a social networking site."

Another thing is, you must tell me what your idea is.
After I explain to you why it is un feasible, or un functional, or the many impossible techonological demands it may have as features,
then you can decide whether you wish to continue.

But what if it is a good idea and simply to implement.

I can help you build it free of monetary charge, free of intellectual concerns. You may own everything I send you via email.
That's my promise.

So what is the big bright idea that is giving you sleeplessness?
