How long till boxing becomes American Idol? Could this be good for boxing?

I mean round by round you text who you thought won the round. This might be really bad in cases like Mayweather vs Canelo.

It'd be cool for fun but not for the ultimate desicion. Boxing would become a popularity contest. I see where your coming from though, maybe instead of judges scoring fights, maybe 1 reporter from each main boxing outlet should score the fight

this would never happen because boxing is a worldwide sport that has fighters of all nationality's taking part in it so there would always be bias fans texting for their fighter regardless of who actually won the round.plus american idol polls are all about viewer preference/opinion.this system would not suite the judging of a sport because it leaves to many factors for inaccuracies to occur. boxing results should be decided using a system that allows for minimal biasness/preference.

They do have something like that already. But fans love to give close rounds to the fighter they love. Imagine if Gatti was around? He had a big fan base.

Because of the biased nature of fans, this would be horrible. Like American Idol, it would just be a popularity contest. ESPN Friday Night Fights does have fans score fights via Facebook and Twitter each round...very interesting how fans at home see it differently than judges... And every now and then Teddy Atlas.
