How to completely protect my computer from virus'?
Hello,
I am getting a new computer delivered hopefully next week and I am wondering what I can do to protect it completely from spyware, virus', etc. I am going to use it mostly for gaming. I am going to completely stay away from sites like Facebook, any torrents and especially porn (haha). These are all obvious though, so I was wondering if there are any other steps I can take to prevent virus'? Ads |

Buy Kaspersky Internet Security. That's the best I can suggest.

I would suggest Norton 360. I have seen others that failed me and friends.

http://www.gdata-software.com/home-security/ i have never had a serious infection with gdata over 4 yrs and i go n do what you don't , execellent support and a great product , just renewed for 2 more yrs at 44 bucks ,,, works great with win 7 . it is rated #1 this year over norton , kis , eset and nod32 and you can't completely protect yourself .protection is real time -- how can you expect a program to find or cure something minute by minute... if you think this than get freeware .. than you be right back here looking for help |

Get an antivirus. MAKE SURE IT'S NOT A ROGUE ONE. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rogue_antivirus If you see a warning of a virus out of nowhere you go to a site, it could be offering rogueware. Google the name of it. If the first results talk about removing it you definitely have a rogue antivirus (rogueware). Kaspersky, Norton, Avast, and, McAfee are good REAL antiviruses. Edit: Rogue antiviruses are fake antiviruses. So is Microsoft Security Essentials. (Watch for rogue Security Essentials). Look for Microsoft in the name

AvJoe i hope the computer you are about to get is a Macintosh, People with Mac's never complain about spyware or viruses. My sister had a windows xp machine like me and she had trouble continuously, Now she has a Mac and hasn't complained yet. My suggestion is to turn off windows services you don't need. Avast Anti virus is about the best freeware you can get. Right now i have Firefox browser with ad block, no script, and flash block.
