I can offer some tips on online advertising..It all begin with your own website. You got to promote it.There are plenty of ways to promote your site.
(Note:Write your own mini resource box with your link for each and every method that i'm going to tell you)
1)Article Marketing
Really a powerful method in getting audience. Write a good article based on your niche topic and submit it in article directories. Just go to google or yahoo and search for "free article directories". It will suggest you a host of directories that you can easily submit your writings. When people surf in that certain directory, they might stumble into your article and you got all the fame needed to be successful in Internet Marketing.

2)Blogging
This method is just like the article writing. You write what you want but good contents for your audience in blogs. The better you got, the more audience you get. You can also submit the same contents that you wrote in blogs in article directories. You get instant viewers if your article is in top 10 within your niche

3)Offer free stuffs
It's always good to get free stuffs. Everyone likes it.So offer some free stuffs such as e-books or software for your audience. You will get a good, loyal and repeating audience. If you are looking for FREE e-books to market it in your site, check out this link.

Well dude, you first of all should just hire a professional marketer who is an expert in the field of making logos, Which could be from $4,000 to $15,000. But if you want to save some cash here are some tips. Look at the other internet businesses logo's. Remember to focus on your message and make it clear so no customer will have trouble understanding the picture. Remember that your business logo will effect your logo, I mean would you want to take your kid to a toy store with demonic letters and a picture of a skeleton on it. I made that up, but there are some weird people out there. You would want the toy store with a toy train on it and happy colorful letters on it, I find that example easy to remember. Remember that your business logo will effect what the customer sees in your business, maybe put a pic of something that is in the field of what you are selling. But don't use clip art it can be copied to easiely. Also what ever you do dont use something similar to another website, they could take it as if you were coping them and then you could get sued or something. Good luck with your business!!

You've gotten some good advice here but to answer your original question: You can use software like Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop if you have it to design an ad. There is also a free program called GIMP (do a search for it) that let's you create images. That said, having the software to mess around with is different than having the design skills to create a nice ad. One thing to check out is http://www.adready.com It has ad templates and will help you generate an ad. You could also hire a graphic designer if you have the budget.

If you're looking for general marketing tips that are free or inexpensive you may find my blog helpful -- http://www.brandtorrent.com/blog I blog about inexpensive/free marketing and working with a cross-promotion partner.
