Gossiping church people?

I used to attend a church where staff and elders would get too involved in the private live7 of their members, by violating their privacy, and reading what thtey post or liked on facebook or twitter. when i tell them about it, they say we are the shepperd, and need to protect the flock. i got so mad at them, and even made death threats against their family, and was kicked out of that church. this was over 5 years ago. i now have found a fantastic new church and i feel called to serve in childrens toministry there. my background is clean. however i have seen some of the people from the previous church recently attending, and giving me an evil look. i am afraid that they will go7sip

You were way out of line threatening their families... But as you said, it was 5yrs ago and hopefully you've learned a few things since then. I guess the people you saw gossiping remembered you. Unfortunately, you can't control what people do or say, only your response to them. Pray about your calling, and let God take care of the details. All the best.
