Facebook messenger notifications not working?

I reinstalled Facebook and Facebook messenger on my iPhone and I went into Facebook messenger. I talked to a couple of people and went out of the app after saying something. I waited and waited to get no answer then went into the app to find an 8 minute ago message. It's happened more than once so I went into settings and notifications and Facebook messenger and said yes for everything but I'm not getting banners. I've tried apple help but no helpful info, if you know the solution please help but otherwise it's fine

This thing happened to me a while ago too. So what I did was force close the application which you can do by going to Settings> Applications > Manage Applications> Facebook/Messenger> Force stop. Also, clear the cache. I always do that once in a while. Once you're done with that, launch Messenger once again and go to Messenger> Settings> Notifications> (Have a green-tick on Notifications and Sound)> Ringtone. Set an audible ringtone. That should work.

Try Forcing Closing the App By Going to Settings Applications than manage Applications Facebook Messenger Force Stop you Should Also Clear the Cachee Once you have Done that Try Opening the App And See if it will Show notifcations Again If it Doesint than its a Error With the App Please Contact Facebook at the Help center and Report the Problem to them
