Will the google redirect virus affect my laptop?
So I had the Google redirect virus for a while and I've been doing a lot of research on Google from my phone and I can't find any solutions that I'm comfortable with. All the programs recommended usually end up with someone complaining about their computer getting really messed up afterwards. I don't I don't mind not being able to use Google because now I could just go on my phone so it's really no big deal but I'm worried that this virus could affect other things that I do like just go on Facebook or like playing some games like Minecraft, sims, or just writing documents. I haven't had problems with them so far and I've had this virus for a while but I'm worried that it could affect my computer. I have a Gateway computer that is about three years old. So what do you guys think?

To be honest you shouldn't really use the internet at all if you have a virus as your personal information could be compromised. There are so many variations of viruses that you can't just assume that nothing else is happening in the background. The most simple and effective solution is to reinstall your original operating system or use your recovery disks to wipe everything from your hard drive and start fresh.

You have to be careful when using your computer and the Internet if you have a virus, there is always a chance you have a key logger on your computer and your personal data could be compromised!

I would recommend trying to remove the Google redirect and that fails then format. There are some great guides out there on removing the virus though (like the one below), so you shouldnt have to format!
