These tips work universally for all types of channels, and maximise your chances of becoming big

1) Upload good quality videos - These days you won't be big unless your videos are in HD, and are of a decent quality

2) Upload often - Make sure you try and upload once a week, or even more if you can. But don't upload too often (like 10 videos a day), otherwise it could be spam to your subscribers.

3) Be patient - Don't expect to become huge overnight after uploading 1 video, you will need to upload many videos, and be on Youtube for at least a few months before you start to get lots of views & subs

4) Promote your vids - Post your videos as video responses on big videos similar to yours, they will likely accept if its similar to theirs, and is of decent quality. Also make use of Youtube's promotion feature (it works well, but costs money).

5) Tell your friends - Ask your friends/family to watch your videos, either by asking them in person or posting on Facebook, Twitter, etc. Get them to watch your videos and also help spread the word.

6) Use analytics - Use the Youtube analytics feature (you can find it under video manager), and see which videos are popular and where. For example, if your videos are popular in a different country (like Germany), then maybe you should add tags in German, or make German subtitles.

Honestly, and i don't mean this in a mean way, choose different, non-overused games for your channel. There are tons of established people who have those games dominated on YT. Unless you have something to offer from those games that are unique and exclusive to you, move on to something different and new.

The only good advice is to be a unique type of person. I see gaming channels that have high potential, but screw it up by being stupid and immature. Use a good video camera, as not very good ones tend to be very rubbish, consequently earning use hate comments and less views.
