TOTTENHAM COULD HAVE SIGNED ROBERT LEWANDOWSKI FOR 'LESS THAN £5M'?
http://www.dailystar.co.uk/football/view...-than-5m-/

TOTTENHAM legend Steve Archibald has claimed the White Hart Lane club once snubbed the chance to sign Robert Lewandowski for less than £5m.

Lewandowski is one of the hottest properties in European football, following his one-man demolition of Real Madrid in the Champions League this week.

Sources close to the Borussia Dortmund star have revealed Lewandowski is keen on a move to the Premier League this summer, with Manchester United his No.1 choice.

But the 24-year-old could have already been playing in England for many years, according to Archibald.

The former Scotland international - who has worked as a football agent since retiring from the game - wrote on Twitter: "Just a note of interest for Spurs fans, I offered Robert Lewandowski to Spurs when he was still playing in Poland, for less than 5m, pity!"

He added: "To be fair, when they said no I offered him to other clubs who also said no!"

Lewandowski is also believed to have been on the verge of joining Blackburn in 2010, before the Icelandic ash cloud prevented him from flying over to agree terms.

Maybe. But keep in mind he wouldnt have developed and matured into the player he is today.BVB made him what he is today.

Same goes for Falcao. He could have joined Aston Villa and if he did he wont be the player he is today,Porto made him.

Would appear to have been a missed opportunity but many players move to another club and are less successful. Torres is a prime example.

Its a bit like when you have a fantasy league team & a player scores a hat trick & you say to your friends I nearly bought him in the last transfer window lol so there are 100's of similar stories like that.
