Why are people on the internet so negative?
YouTube,Twitter,Facebook etc.Homophobic, racist,Harsh,Destructive and obscene comments are usually the order of the day.People say stuff they would never say in real life face to face .There are positive comments and tweets but 'evil' seem to be the loudest. At times i think the world was better without social media.

Hahahaha, you have never been around a bunch of old women at work, my friend.

Bitching about people is normal, all that social media has done is caused it to stay there for all to view.

I completely agree, I think the reason they are there, is because they use the internet as a way to channel out stress and anger, instead of doing it face to face, though, I think that, as long as they are all still getting on at the end of it, that's good

I think the main thing is because they can hide while doing it. People act differently when face to face. Over the internet they have a false pride because the physical damage can not be seen, or do to them. Also some people that spend their entire days tend to have no social life and are very obsessive. They don't know how to come to a compromise or let the other person win because they haven't socialized in so long. When it's up against someone taking an opposite side to something they like they are quite bias and things get pretty ugly. Sorry out society is just so ugly in general, when one person bites the infection spreads.

I wholeheartedly agree with you, and I find it funny that I fell upon this question because I've been thinking about this a lot lately. I watched a video concerning Muslim people the other day (I'm not Muslim myself) and the comments I saw are enough to make my hair stand on end. I also saw a YouTube video about the persecution of native Americans and on that page I saw comments by native Americans saying how they'd love to burn the white people's families and children just to see how they like it. (Because a cycle of hate would certainly prove a point). These are just some instances out of many. It doesn't matter what the post, video, article or picture is about there's bound to be some perverse sickening comments. It's very sad and disheartening; in fact, it terrifies me because thoughts like those are the basis of evil acts. However I don't think it's necessarily technology's fault, these are the sick twisted comments of ignorant people, who would likely have felt that way anyways. They love to post it on the Internet because there aren't any repercussions. It's just sad that we have to be exposed to it through the Internet, but this sort of hatefulness would still live on regardless. The Internet is just the medium that people are using to spread it. It can be a very harsh scary world :-(

Ever since I started talking online in various sites, I noticed that people are more hostile online. It must be because they feel they can vent steam and not be afraid or embarrassed knowing they're not revealing their identity. If you do it face to face, everyone can see and it reflects you. Do it online and to everyone you're just someone on a computer typing, but people still get your message.
