Relationships/ people are kinda dumb?
I was just looking on facebook and realized that so many people used to be in one relationship a few months ago and now are gettin all obsessed with another person. This seems really shallow... Why do people do this?

Because they are constantly changing their minds about what they think they want.

Relationships take commitment, compromise, communication, honesty, and love. Many people think love is all it takes, and lack the other qualities needed to maintain a good relationship. It's the same reason the divorce rate is so high.

Because people are sometimes dumb and don't know what they want, or "settle for less," or just view relationships as a fashion accessory - something they must have to show off or be considered in a certain way. Social media has become the pinnicle play to gloat, and a major reason I quit using it; too much showboating.

Dumb? Hormones do the thinking for them. The brain isn't even attached or involved until late teens -early 20's. It's like a game of musical chairs. They move from one crush to the next. Both girls and guys learn about and develop their personal power in shallow and manipulative ways. It is the world of appearances. It is also the challenge of the chase. Shortly after they catch their prey [girls are particularly adept at this but guys do it too] they have learned the power they have and they like feeling powerful [attractive, best dressed etc.] and they repeat it again. You are an astute observer, it is shallow. But in the adolescent stage it is a rare person who has developed their person-hood. Advertisers know this which is why they market to adolescent males and females, the world of appearances in apparel, makeup, perfume, soft drinks, music, etc. Strip all that away and they are left with nothing and are bored. Not interested in reading a book, only interested in pop culture and obsessed with what their friends are doing on FB etc.
