Tea Party-ers don't understand that Social Security is a separate account with separate funding streams. It is basically a transfer from the young to the old, having minimal overhead and little effect on GDP.

It has nothing to do with the problem of federal income taxes and discretionary spending.

Social Security is a violation of the Constitution and a violation of basic human rights.
If you want to participate in a program like SS, that is fine, you are free to do that. However, I have the right to choose not to participate. When the government mandates my participation and enforces it at gun point, that removes my right to choose.

Realistically, Americans should save money for retirement. They don't, that's why social security was created. If people were responsible and planned for their futures, social security would be unnecessary, but the vast majority don't.

There are different ways of investing in the stock market, some are more akin to gambling while others are true investments.

Little do you know that it is the Democrats who has pillage SS ever since LBJ. The SS lock box is no longer there. what you pay into SS is now put into the general fund and spent. An IOU goes into the box. LBJ started it. The Democrats that ran congress did it except for when the Republicans had congress. The Republicans tried to stop that practice By putting part of your SS savings into a private account. The media lied to the people by saying that the Republicans were taking you SS from you.
