How do I find new people to be my contacts on Twitter?
I just joined Twitter and don't have many friends on it. How can I find some cool people I don't know to follow? I'm bored and need to distract myself right now with stuff.

You have in completely succeeded in pointing out what is wrong with Twitter. IT IS USELESS. Leave it and don't go back, it is a waste of time.

Perhaps the first person has the answer right, but I don't think so. Understanding Twitter does take some talent, but if one puts there mind to it they can discover some very powerful tools within the Twittersphere.

One way to find people of interest to tweet on Twitter is to type a keyword (ie chocolate) into their search box. The results that return are people who are talking about that topic at that time. Even better to use a hashtag "#" which would look like this (ie #chocolate).

I personally like using Twitter Grader to find people to follow on Twitter. There are other tools like Twollo, but with Twitter Grader you can search by location and follow people that are in your area. Or you can search by topic and follow people who have focused on that topic. Unfortunately most people don't realize that they need to put their keywords into their bio so that they can find the type of people they want to connect with.

One last way to find people of relevance to follow is to look at the people that your current followers are following and invite them to follow you. If they like following the person who is following you their is a chance that they will like following you too.

Hope that helps, if you need more info please twet @BodyByChocolate

Many web sites post lists of the best people to follow on Twitter. Think about what interests you and just do a search for 'people to follow on Twitter about ___________". For instance, I like personal finance advice and so I followed everyone listed at http://www.outofdebtchristian.com/basic-...oney-tips/

You'll find lots of interesting people to get started with, and then you can further expand the list of people you interact with as you dive into the conversation.
