It has changed the way we learn and socialize. We can have an answer in a matter of seconds. We could view things on YouTube that would have been otherwise censored.

Its a great way to keep in touch but you sometimes lack the deeper connection with friends. Its the perfect solution for someone who is anti-social to be social when and where they want. But there are some issues that arent so great. Today for instance by boss talked to me about something I said on Facebook about another co-worker. Somehow that person heard I said something and complained at work, stupid yes but sadly in todays world what we put out there can follow us around. Be careful who you choose to be social with

Social media makes people dumber.
It insults the English language, discourages creativity, and creates an environment where one may avoid life experiences. It stagnates the building of the character of our youth. Granted, connectivity has increased but at the cost of the intelligence of its users and productivity in real life. Social media used to be air through which sound waves would travel between parties. People would have to travel great distances to achieve social connection. Social media used to be paper, too. Through these media, people would become masters of rhetoric and renowned writers. Today, there are no such successes born from Facebook or Twitter. People simply wallow in their own thoughts, receiving responses of equal idiocy to their own. Which is staggering. |
