what does "Mute Conversation" mean on Facebook? what does it do? 10 POINTS?

i wanna know because there are annoying people on facebook that wont stop messaging me and stuff and i dont know how to make them see im "not online" when i actually am lol so does "Mute Conversation" do that?

Muting will turn off push notifications on mobile and prevent chats from opening for this conversation.Facebook provides this functionality out-of-the-box, without needing to create a custom filter. When you have a conversation open in Facebook, just click the More menu at the top, and choose “Mute” from the dropdown.
