Is there any way to temporarily hid or block someone so they will not think I am online?
I would like to not have multiple people trying to contact me if I am having a conversation with someone and don't want interuptions

On your chat sidebar, click the little gear icon, the Advanced Settings.
There, under the Turn on chat for all friends except... option, you can input the names of people that you wish to appear offline to.
