Is there any way to stop Facebook from announcing a profile picture change on my friends news feed?

So,
I've researched this up quite a bit at I can't find a solution :/
I'm wondering if if I upload the picture as only me and then set it as my profile picture, then when it's already my profile picture set it as public, will that keep it off my friends news feed? Is there ANY way to have this done? Apparently, if you remove it from your timeline, it still does not keep it from being on my friends news feed. If I take it off my recent activity, that does not work either :/ Can anyone please offer a solution?

No, there is no solution for that.

You could try blocking the friend only for the time. Later, you could unblock your friend and they won't get the profile picture news.
