does the facebook chat tab pop up to a friend if i open one from the sidebar of my browser?
I mean, when I start a conversation and I open the tab from my sidebar, does the tab open to my friend too? Or it happens only when i start to write? Otherwise in which cases does that happen?

No dear. It ll not pop up when you open. It will open only when you send them text.
