Question about facebook chat?
Does it sometimes say a message has been sent from "chat" even if they are on their mobile?

It usually says "messenger" if your using the Facebook messenger app on the mobile. But other then that it usually indicates the phone logo showcasing the person is sending the message directly from a phone or web.
