Facebook login approval? a good idea or overkill?

Facebook has a security measure where you need to enter a code generated on a smartphone fb app to login to facebook from an unrecognized browser.

if you already use a good, long, complex password do you think this is a good idea or a bit overkill?

i have it and if you lose your phone its crap and you can't get into it. its a really bad idea
