Facebook help w/ friend requests?

So my friend sent me a friend suggestion on Facebook of a guy I went to school with (It said Add as friend or Ignore and suggested by "my friend") and I didn't select either because I never really talked to him and didn't want to feel like a creep, but I still thought I might add him later. The next day I received a friend request from him that looks like a real friend request (Confirm or Deny).

So do friend suggestions get sent to both people and he added me or does it just look that way from not answering the original suggestion?

They do not get sent to both people, I know this from past experience and embarrassment!

It's neither, the request didn't change and it's not send to both. He simply found you and added you. The timing was coincident!
Or maybe, your friend suggested you to him as well him to you. But Facebook didnt do that your friend did the suggestion
