there is this girl who works at my local co-op we always spend ages talking when i shop there i was thinking of asking for her number or her facebook but then thought that might be weired what do u guys think

Depends on the relationship you both have. You already talked with her for a long time and actually there's no problem getting her handphone number. Getting her facebook is 100% definitely ok so just go ahead and do it, NO WORRIES. Even acquaintances get each other facebook nowadays. For phone number you can find a reason like just in case you need to ask her about work etc etc, and after that start doing your thing =)
