Why is facebook becoming a target?
I find that the privacy settings on facebook, is poor many people who use the website. Have been, victimized and cyberstalked by people they don't want to have contact with. Personal information shows up when it isn't suppose to facebook won't communicate with the member who complains about it. The company, should be more considerate and take peoples issues very seriously the world is a scary place and they don't want to take any chances. People have the right to their privacy and it makes me angry when someone comes in and takes that away from you. The United States Supreme Court and the Department of Justice, need to be on alert on these concerns hold the Social Media network accountable for anything that happens to the people who use it. Warnings Cautions do not, help and further restrictions need to be put in place to prevent people from going, onto someones profile to use or steal information that can be very valuable.

Such as:
Full name
Date of birth
Current city
Education
Family/friends
Relationship status
Employment

It should be viewed by only those that are friends of the member. Nobody else should have the right to access it unless if he/she knows them etc.

It's simply one of the best social sites to find your target. Furthermore, It's worldwide. Poor or rich can have access to it. It's made for us that's why it's a target site when finding someone.

Hi Alex,

I agree to your concern but partially. Let's look at the social media sites' way. To provide freedom to share your status, make new friends and approach zillions of strangers at the same time securing your credentials is a pretty big sum for any software. As far as the target is concerned, the mal-practitioners on the Internet target whatever is popular and trending. If it were Orkut yesterday, today it's Facebook and tomorrow it would be something else.

Regulations on Internet is quite difficult because it's spread worldwide. Nevertheless, systems that help tracking culprit has become far advanced as compared to yesteryear but it's still not up to the mark. As I said in my answer on Yahoo! earlier, if you are too concerned about your personal information, DON'T BE ONLINE! Simple as that. Not only credentials from Facebook are vulnerable to get traced and used but every file you download on your PC has some or the other tracking tool!
