Can friends see groups you create in facebook with your profile?

I want to create a group in my facebook profile but it's one I don't want all of my friends see or join. I can see groups that my friends are members of listed on their profiles, though not necessarily ones they created. If they can see a group I create, can I hide it from them? I can't find a privacy setting for this.
gokul - I don't want friends of my profile to see that I have created the group. I don't mean the privacy of the group itself - who can see members, posts etc.

to change group privacy open group and select gear icon or settings icon on top and select Edit group settings. Choose a new group privacy option under the Privacy section and now save it
