How to stop seeing posts on facebook from pages I do not like?

On facebook I keep getting posts on my wall from pages that I do not like or follow. It will say: "name of page is posting about a Page you like:"

This is super annoying. I don't wish to see these posts which seem like advertisement spam to me as I never liked their page.

I know I can mark the post as spam or hide it. (lets see how many ppl still suggest I do that...lol)

I want to know how I can prevent them from posting on my wall to begin with? And why it keeps happening?

it's not posting on your "wall" as you call it, it's posting in your news feed - those things are not the same thing

what is happening is that in your interests like... your music section, or any of those other sections, you selected that you like that particular artist, so facebook will make you aware of when there is activity about that artist

if this bothers you, then remove that artist from your list of likes (not page likes, profile likes) as explained here
