New FB profile picture on the newsfeed?

I want to change my Facebook profile picture but I don't want it to show up on the news feed. I know how to hide it from my timeline, but is there any way to hide it from the news feed? I heard that temporarily deactivating then reactivating your account can fix this problem. Does anyone know if this is true? If so, how long would you have to deactivate for? :/

You can upload the picture and select as the profile picture. Then go to the news feed and remove the two posts by clicking on remove. Most probably, it is the only way.
