Why did i get a notification that someone shared a link on facebook?

I havent talked to this person in about a year ana half on facebook but for some reason on my ipad and phone i got a notification that they shared a link on the newsfeed although i wasnt affiliated or tagged in the link at all? When i check on my computer however i dont have a notification that the person ared a link
Theyve shared other stuff but i havent got anotification before

You probably accidentally told facebook to notify you. Go to this person's profile, move your mouse over the "friends" button on their cover photo, and unclick the "get notifications" button.

If you have them on your Close Friends List it will Send you a Notifcation of Everything that They Do On Facebook if you Dont Want This Remove them Off of the Close Friends List And That Should Do it
