to block a friend go to their profile and under their profile picture there should be a link to remove friend, also to make sure they dont see your profile go to the privacy tab on the top right of your facebook and make it so only friends can see your profile.

Make sure you really want to block this person. They may be hurt or angry. There is nothing worse than alienating someone with a computer who can then go on a digital rampage against you.
