Why do people friend people on facebook when they just delete them?

I don't see the point. What's the point in wasting the time and energy to add a friend if you just delete them 6 months later? Why don't you not friend them in the first place?

Alot of times it happens because they're friends starting off and then the person ends up making them mad and they end up deleting them

usually because the person they friended posts status updates too often, or acts in a way that is otherwise annoying

or they used to just be trying to get as many friends as possible, and then realized how dumb of an idea that is, so they then "clean house" periodically
