What Do You Think i should Do at 23years Old Go to Trade School?
I say i want to be a better person but i keep delaying...and then one minute i want to get better then next..i don't want to i like staying to myself...I'm not the social type i have problems with Self esteem and i have adhd and anxiety and bipolar..and i never was really motivated...because when it came to being pro active...i felt like i didn't fit in or Was trying to fit in....and its like when i think about really going to school as in college its like do i want to really take up theater to better my self so i can become a better talker but acting does interest me...it always did i never just took it in high school...like i've done it but had stage fright or felt cheesy...and til this day im interested in it like when i go to plays i just get that feeling like could i do that and i just get inspration to want to do it...but when it comes to actually going to sign up at a community college for it i back out and tell myself ill do it tomarrow...and even when my mom tells me i need to learn a trade and go to a trade school instead of trying to do acting at 23years old...because during high school in the mornings i went to a voltech school and took up carpentry because i loved working with my hands...and at the time i thought it was a volcational school as in like a school for media arts or whatever you wanted to get into and go into that field....after high school...but yeah i took up carpentry because i liked doing it..and you would make good money...and now its like i have no job...and am i wasting my life my still pondering for the last 4years

Dear KidkID Moe,

Finding myself in a similar situation as yourself, I entered a similar title into Google, and well - here I am. Nice to meet you Smile

Anyways, I am also 23 years old (although I will be 24 in November). I recently got back to Canada from studying in Europe/Living with family there. I studied University in Poland for Philosophy for three years, and living in Canada before I decided to come back because there is more money here and a different mentality of people etc.

The young guys that are working with me are making a better wage simply because they have the necessary schooling for the apprenticeship program (perhaps you have something similar) - anyways, that kind of experience goes a long way when it comes to finding work.

Even though I have more job experience than some of the young guys, I still get all of the labour jobs, and they get the more intricate work, now I regret that the time I spent working construction before I didn't also use to gain education in the field.

However I must say that I do sometimes enjoy Carpentry, I like building things and making them look nice, I think Jesus was a Carpenter too - I think it's a very symbolic profession. Nevertheless I think that our attitide has a lot to do with the outcome of our work and the value of it.

Even if you don't like Carpentry, perhaps you should look into something else that interests you and maybe try going in that direction. I did some volunteer work before for the people in need and it also helped me grow a lot as a person.

Im sure everything will be ok, try not to worry to much about the future, or the past. Be active, feel the indwelling presence, walk outside and breathe deep, watch the sun, feel the natural rythms.

Good luck!!

Apply for SSI at the social security office and keep applying. Show them how your disability is affecting you and how you can't get a job.

You are right, you would do better in a trade school, see if the college can help you with a pell grant or something like that. You need to focus on carpentry since you will not do well in a job like 9 to 5 where you have to work in an office. You need a job where you can move around if you have to . I also think you should consider the military, that kind of structured environment is where people with ADHD tend to thrive. Maybe being a fire fighter or game warden would interest you also. I think you should focus on carpentry, you could open your own cabinet shop or whatever. you know your passion, so chase it. Maybe you could volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and meet up with people in the carpentry industry and maybe get a job since you probably have the skill already. Be who you were meant to be.
