Facebook friend requests not sending properly.?

For whatever reason, every so often when I send a friend request to someone on Facebook, a glitch occurs and the request doesn't send properly, i.e. it doesn't show up on their homepage under the friend request tab, and the only way it will ever be confirmed/denied is if they are to one day by chance, click on my profile and recognise that I have sent the request.

I'll know when this has happened, because I see their name 2/3 weeks later somewhere on Facebook and the tab beside their name still tells me the request is pending.

Anyone else have this glitch/know how to fix it?
