Why do people make their instagram account private? Does it get you more followers?
Just asking cuz I just figured it wasn't that serious to hide pictures of someones shoe, lunch, pet, etc.

If your account is private, people have to request to follow you. If you don't want them to see your pictures you can deny their request. Sometimes people will stalk your pictures, too.
