A question about facebook messaging?

So if you send a message to someone and they see it, a check mark is put next to the message when you are in your inbox,right? So after time goes by and the check mark turns back to the sent arrow (that means they haven't read it yet) and then goes back to a check mark, does that mean they read the message again?

why dont you just ask the person if they have read it?
