How is this possible?

So on the FB chat, as you know, there is a green dot next to the person's name meaning they're on chat. So i messaged this person at 2:10 in the afternoon. I know that now FB has put in the thing that tells you " message seen at..." with a check mark. So now I have a message sent at 2:10 and no follow up " seen at.." How is this possible? How did they not see it?

Just because they are online does not mean that they are actually on facebook, they could be playing a game or away from the computer.
