Now that you Democrats are touting the stock market is it reliable enough for social security?

Is unemployment really improving?

Yes apparently when something becomes bad, it's natural rebound will occur. If you let it.

In other words, you want to privatize Social Security.

Bush tried that in 2005. Imagine how bad things would have been last fall if Bush had succeeded and failing banks were thus in charge of people's Social Security.

If Bush had had his way, things would have been much worse.

No. There is always a risk a Republican might get elected again, and the markets would go to hell, like the did for Herbert Hoover and George W. Bush.

ok ok we get that you are not a fan of Obama.

But right now he is trying to clean up BUSH'S mess!

So put the blame where it really belongs because it didn't really matter who was put in office because the mess was going to be there for whoever to clean it up.

The stock market appears to have found bottom. This is good news and perhaps presents opportunity for wise investors.

But it is no means a recommendation for everyone to shift away from the "sure thing" of Social Security (overlooking the projected shortfalls for the moment) and instead bet their entire retirement future on the incredibly risky and murky stock market.

The Americans that need SS the most are the ones who would lose the most on the stock market. They would invest in high risk stocks instead of stable companies. Look how many people got taken on the ponzi scheme. The only people that are for letting people invest in the stock market is those who would profit by bad decisions of the investors.

Didn't the Republicans originally suggest that people be allowed to invest their SS withholding in the stock market? Because with all the deregulation of the financial industry it was such a great alternative. OOPS! Then came the biggest financial meltdown since the great depresion. I don't hear any democrat suggesting that the stock market is reliable enough to do that. Maybe you heard some Republican lie, and believed it to be true. They are so good at at.
