How do you introduce yourself to a random person that you want to get to know on facebook?

me and this other guy have mutual friends on facebook. I want to be his friend because we have similar ancestry.He seems like a cool person. But I don't want to seem weird or a stalker.

well if he's not already on your friends list, sending him a message will most likely not help, since he wont be notified that your message exists... it would get placed in his "other messages" folder and he wont be aware of it being there

facebook does this on purpose because you arent supposed to use facebook to meet new people you dont already know, even tho everyone does it anyways, usually thru groups or pages tho, where you can talk to strangers without having to add them as a friend

Start off by sending him a friend request, but also send a message to him because he might not know who you are, so he'll probably decline it.

Try this in the message:

"Hey, so I know we don't know each other and all, but I saw that you are friends with my friend on here. I'd like to get to know you better. I sent you a friend request, soo if you want you can accept it? "
